In April 2025 GenomSys CEO Antonio Aitoro took the stage at Story Time, the Milan-based event series that brings together founders, researchers and healthcare professionals to share the human stories behind technology companies.
Aitoro’s talk traced the path from the founding idea — that genomic data deserves the same kind of open, standardised, interoperable representation that audio and video already enjoy — to the production reality of the MPEG‑G ISO/IEC 23092 standard and the GenomSys suite of tools built on top of it.
The conversation ranged across genomics, bioinformatics and bioengineering, with a recurring thread: making personalised medicine accessible without compromising on privacy, and giving citizens meaningful control over their own genetic information.
