Shaping the future of genomics and IP management
At Italian Tech Week 2024 in Turin, GenomSys CEO Antonio Aitoro presented on genomics innovation and data-protection strategy, and how technological breakthroughs are reshaping how healthcare is delivered.
A central focus of the talk was the MPEG‑G ISO/IEC 23092 standard. The framework “has set the foundation for how genomic data is processed, compressed, and shared”, enabling researchers to handle substantial datasets more effectively while maintaining strong security guarantees.
Aitoro also emphasised intellectual property safeguarding as genomic information gains value in personalised medicine: “GenomSys, as a leader in the field, is actively engaged in ensuring that the tools and platforms developed to analyze genomic data are protected and leveraged in ways that benefit both the scientific community and the public.”
By reducing storage demands and improving accessibility, the standard facilitates global collaboration in medical research, making genomic insights more accessible to researchers and healthcare professionals worldwide.
GenomSys closed the session by reaffirming its commitment to advancing genomics applications across healthcare and agriculture, and to the intellectual property management that keeps those innovations protected.
